With the Holcim group firmly in control, Singapore-based Jurong Cement Ltd (JCL) is moving to restructure its ready-mixed concrete business as part of a rationalisation of operations.

The move comes soon after the conclusion of a tussle for control of the company.

’With a view to rationalising the businesses of Jurong Cement group of companies, the company will be restructuring the ready-mixed concrete business and streamlining its staffing requirements,’ JCL said in a statement yesterday.

As part of the restructure, the group will halt the services and operations of its ready-mixed concrete batching plants at Tampines Street 61 and 17A Pandan Road.

The ready-mixed concrete batching plant at Banyan Avenue in Jurong Island will continue its normal operations.

’With the restructuring, staffing requirements will also be streamlined to ensure continuing productivity,’ JCL said, without giving details.
