HeidelbergCement India, which had acquired Indorama Cement and Mysore Cement, is all set to double its capacity from present 3.07Mta to 6Mta by March 2012.

Heidelberg will add a clinker unit of 1.9Mta to its existing capacity of 1.2Mta at Damoh, Madhya Pradesh and double capacity of its cement grinding unit to 2 mtpa there.

It will increase cement grinding capacity at its Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, plant by 1.9Mta. The plant currently has a capacity of 0.8Mta.

Ashish Guha, managing director, HeidelbergCement India, told DNA Money, "We do not expect an oversupply situation in the central and western regions much. A little bit of pressure had come from far-off distances which has reduced significantly and is not seen as of today. In next few months it is expected to be stable to positive." Though the company is at present expanding, it is open for acquisitions, too.

Guha said, "We are looking at acquisitions in whichever market we are present such as central and western, or any pan-India player. We are looking at opportunities."
