Ssangyong Cement returns to black in 2009

Ssangyong Cement Industrial Co, a South Korean cement maker, said Thursday it jumped back into the black last year, thanks to rising cement prices.

Ssangyong Cement posted a net profit of 74.2 billion won (US$64.3 million) in 2009, compared with a loss of 168.7 billion won in 2008, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Operating profit rose to 70.7 billion won last year on sales of 1.08 trillion won, according to the filing.
