ACC to raise cement capacity to 30Mt by 2010-end

India’s ACC Ltd plans to raise its cement manufacturing capacity to 30Mta by the end of 2010, the company’s managing director said Thursday.

Currently, ACC has a capacity to produce 26Mt of cement a year.

The capacity expansion will require an investment of INR15 billion, Sumit Banerjee told Dow Jones Newswires on the sidelines of an industry conference.

Meanwhile, the company expects cement prices to rise over the next few months, its managing director said on Thursday.

"If you ask me about whole of India, I think (cement prices will be) moving up," Sumit Banerjee said.
