Vietnam has enough cement for peak season
31 December 2009

There will not be a shortage of cement during the peak construction season prior to the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday in mid-February, according to the Viet Nam Cement Association (VNCA). The total designed production capacity of cement plants across the country is near 60Mt, while the actual capacity fluctuates between 45 and 46Mt, according to the VNCA.

With the completion of several new plants, cement supplies in 2010 could increase by more than 5Mt compared to 2009. The VNCA estimates that cement sales in 2009 were 45Mt, a year-on-year increase of 11 per cent.
