ABB recently held its third global Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) User Meeting. The conference hosted over 120 participants and took place in Lugano, Switzerland, from October 21st to October 24th, at the Hotel De La Paix.

This conference was the fifth ABB GMD User Meeting, after two global events were held in Switzerland (2007) and Peru (2008), and after two regional events in Santiago de Chile and Sydney, Australia, both held in 2006.



To date, ABB has installed or won orders for over 85 gearless mill drive units in 21 countries on five continents. 30 GMD units are installed in cement plants, while as 55 units are installed in mining and minerals processing plants.
