The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has requested three northern provinces of Phu Tho, Hai Duong and Ha Giang stop construction of several cement plants, which are out of the sector’s planning until 2015.

The facilities include Huu Nghi and Yen Mao cement plants in Phu Tho, Phu Tan cement plant in Hai Duong and Ngoc Ha cement plant in Ha Giang, the ministry was quoted by the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper as saying.

The request made on October 21 was aimed to curb the country’s foreseeable cement surplus in the coming years.
