Pakistan: APCMA chairman elected

Brig (R) Asmat Ullah Khan Niazi of Askari Cement Ltd has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), said the announcement of election results for the term 2009-2010.

In an annual general meeting of the APCMA held on Saturday at the APCMA secretariat Lahore, it said Kamran Rasool of Dandot Cement Ltd and Muhammad Ali Tabba of Lucky Cement Ltd have also been unanimously elected as Vice Chairmen of the association. Other elected members included Aizaz Mansoor Sheikh of Kohat Cement Ltd, Muhammad Raza Mansha of DG Khan Cement Ltd, Sayeed Tariq Saigol of Maple Leaf Cement Factory Ltd, Amer Faruque of Cherat Cement Ltd, Babar Bashir Nawaz of Attock Cement Pakistan Ltd, Javed Ali Khan of Pioneer Cement Ltd, Mazhar Rafi of Bestway Cement Ltd.

The general body besides elections discussed problems currently being faced by the industry.

The body highlighted main issues including the non-availability of railway wagons for export to India, high diesel rates and transportation charges.
