JP Associates to invest in expansion

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has signed four MOUs with Madhya Pradesh Government to invest INR13,000 crore for setting up two cement manufacturing units, an aluminium production factory and a power plant for generating power.    


The MOUs were inked by Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister, Gaurishankar Shejwar and JP Associates Executive Chairman Manoj Gaur for setting up power plants, while for establishing cement and alumimium units, it was signed by Industry Minister Jayant Mallaiya and Gaur in the presence of Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the latter’s residence yesterday, an official release said.    

The cement units will be established in Satna and Amarpatan with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore each for producing five million tonne cement, it said.    

For producing two lakh tonne alumina, one lakh tonne aluminium and a captive thermal power plant of 200-250 Mw capacity in Rewa district, the company will invest Rs 3,500 crore, the release said.    
Besides, it will invest Rs 550 crore for setting up power generating units of 500 Mw capacity at Bina town in the state.

The power generation from these units would commence from 2011-12, it said.    

Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary, Rakesh Sahni, JP Associates Managing Director Sunny Gaur and Energy Secretary Sanjay Bandopadhyaya among others were present.
