New Ethiopia plant construction to begin soon

North Holding Investments Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has completed the necessary preparations to start construction of a cement factory soon located at Dejen, 230km from Ethiopia’s Capital, Addis Ababa in Amhara region.

The announcement was made at a ceremony attended by various ministries, including justice, transport and communication, and education, as well as representatives from the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo), investment agencies, and the president of Amhara Regional State.

The company began the new cement project activities in 2006 at a total investment cost of US$1.6bn and completed the project feasibility and other preparation activities, including environmental and social impact assessments in 2008, said North Holding Investments Inc, Ethiopia project director Dejenu Tekle Mariam.
