Wesfarmers chairman to succeed Ken Moss at Boral, Australia

Wesfarmers chairman to succeed Ken Moss at Boral, Australia
29 July 2009

After 10 years as chairman of building materials group Boral, Ken Moss will step down next May to make way for Bob Every, chairman of Wesfarmers and Iluka Resources.

However, Mr Every will give up his chairman’s position at the Perth-based Iluka at the company’s annual general meeting to be held in May before taking on his new role as chairman of Boral.

Mr Every said being chairman of three listed companies was "not appropriate". John Pizzey was yesterday appointed deputy chairman of Iluka until he assumes the chairman’s role in May.

Mr Pizzey has been with Iluka’s board since 2005. He was a senior executive with Alcoa in the US and was an independent director of the London Metal Exchange for many years, as well as its chairman in 2003, before retiring and returning to Australia in 2004. He is currently a director of Alumina and Amcor.

Mr Moss’s long tenure at Boral will come to a close five months after its chief executive, Rod Pearse, retires at the end of this year after 10 years at the helm of the building materials company.
