Iran: 60Mt of cement produced annually
18 November 2008

An official said that 60Mt of cement are produced in the country per year.

Addressing a seminar of cement sellers in Kerman on Monday, a member of board of directors of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce Mehdi Raeiszadeh further added that cement production will reach 65Mt by March 2009.

Referring to financial crisis in the world, he further said that it has also had impact on cement market as demand for the product has declined.

One of the factors behind the decline is the inflation which has brought some of projects to a halt, he said, adding that demand for cement will go up once development projects start.

Stating that some 2000t of cement will be exported abroad, he also said that Kerman province’s share of the export is 30,000t.

Last year, a total of 1.3Mt of cement was produced in the province, he noted.
