Three foreign investors want to team up with cement maker PT Semen Bosowa Maros to build a new cement factory planned by the company.

The Siam Cement Co. Ltd of Thailand, YTL Corp. Berhad of Malaysia and Lafarge have offered to have a share in the project, which will have an annual capacity of 2Mt of cement.

Bosowa plans to expand its production capacity from 1.8Mt at present to 3.8Mt, its chief executive office Erwin Aksa said.

Bowo in Makassar, South Sulawesi, wants to strengthen its competitive edge in the eastern Indonesian market, Erwin said.

Construction of the project is expected to start in the middle of next year, Erwin was quoted as saying by the newspaper Investor Daily.
