11 August 2008

Even as Himachal Pradesh government is making a case for earning carbon credits through an active green policy, the state cabinet on Friday gave its nod for exploring the possibility of setting up another cement plant near the state capital.

Presided over chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, the cabinet approved issue of prospecting license to Dalmia Cements to explore for limestone, shale and quartz deposits in Kariyali-Kothi-Sal-Bagh area of Sunni tehsil in Shimla district. The company proposes to set up a INR2000-crore cement plant to generate more employment avenues in the state, a cabinet spokesman said here.
