Brazil’s June cement sales rise 13.9% YoY

Cement sales in Brazil rose 13.9% in June compared with the same month last year, to 4.21Mt, according to figures Monday from the National Cement Industry Association (SNIC).
 
Sales per business day grew by 11.3% in the same comparison, but fell 1% from May. "Cement consumption is within our expectations," said SNIC’s executive-secretary José Otávio Carvalho.
 
From January through June, domestic cement sales rose 14.8% to 24Mt. In the 12 months through June, sales grew 13.7% to 47.8Mt.
 
SNIC expects domestic cement sales to grow by 12% in 2008 compared with 2007.
