Italy Italcementi wins wind farm licence in Turkey

Italcementi has won a licence for the construction of a wind farm in Turkey.
 
The wind farm will be built in the region of Balikesir in northwestern Turkey in uplands characterised by constant wind, near interconnection nodes with the national electricity distribution network.
 
The licence was won through the subsidiary of Italcementi, Italgen. The information was announced in a statement by Italcementi.
 
As ANSA reported on November 26, 2007, Italcementi SpA has signed through its Italgen unit a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy for the possible construction of a wind farm in Gabal El Zeit, on the Red Sea coast, Italcementi said in a statement. According to the MoU, the Italian group will study the feasibility of the construction of a wind farm with a 400 MW capacity. (ANSA).
