Bahrain-Turkey to discuss cement import
23 June 2008

Bahrain could soon be importing construction material from Turkey, particularly cement and cast iron, it was revealed yesterday.

The move follows instructions from the government and the Economic Development Board to build a strategic reserve. "The government is keen on averting any shortage of construction materials as it disrupts urban development", Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro said. He was speaking to Akhbar Al Khaleej on the eve of his visit to Turkey, revealing plans to sign major deals for supply of construction materials. Two Thai teams are also expected in Bahrain next week to study Bahrain’s needs in construction materials and food products.
