Talks with Saudi on cement supply soon

Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, yesterday reviewed with senior government officials the impact the shortage of cement and other building materials on the local market.

The government is concerned about setbacks that hamper the commercial sector and development projects, Shaikh Khalifa said, asserting that the government would spare no efforts to address any inconveniences that affected the implementation of public welfare projects and the economic sector.

Shaikh Khalifa was briefed on the procedures taken by the government to overcome the crisis in the construction sector because of the shortage of building materials. The meeting agreed on procedures to coordinate with exporters. The premier asked the ministries of Industry and Commerce, Interior and Finance to meet Saudi officials concerned and facilitate the supply of cement and iron to Bahrain.

He expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia, which has never failed to offer support and assistance to Bahrain, will do its utmost to ensure Bahrain meets its requirements of building materials.
