Al Badia signs MoU with CBMI for 3.2Mt capacity cement plant in Syria

Al Badia Cement JSC (Under-establishment) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese contractor CBMI to build a cement plant in Abu Al Shamat, Damascus Rural Area.
 
The Al Badia plant will have an annual capacity of over 3.2Mt, with key equipment imported from Europe and production to start end of 2010.
 
The Executive Committee assigned by the founders of Al Badia Cement together with its European Technical Consultant Cement Project Services set the specifications for constructing and running the plant in line with the highest technical standards used in the cement industry to economize energy use and to keep environmental impacts to minimum levels.
 
Al Badia Cement (JSC) is one of the foremost private sector companies to acquire a license for establishing a cement plant in Syria.
 
Furthermore, the project may be considered one of the biggest industrial projects in Syria and will significantly contribute to the country’s economic prosperity, in line with the economic development currently being witnessed in Syria.
 
This project shall meet the increasing demand of the Syrian market and will create the opportunity for Syria to become a cement exporting country in addition to creating job and training opportunities in the country’s labor market.
