Iraqi ministry sets aside US$160m for cement company

A report released by the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals showed that the ministry will set aside a total of US$160m from a Japanese loan to rehabilitate the General Company for Southern Cement, Iraq Directory reported.
 
The report further disclosed that the ministry has assimilated a comprehensive business plan for the project and met with the Japanese officials to determine the measures required to bring in all equipment and machinery.
 
In addition, the General Company for Southern Cement is hoping to acquire an electricity unit for $30m, which will produce 30MW.
