Turkey’s Marmara leadership
According to data from the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB), cement facilities in the Marmara region sold a total of 13.3Mt domestically in 2007. Marmara was followed by facilities in central Anatolia, with 8.09Mt. Black Sea region facilities took third place with 5.2Mt last year. Cement factories in the Mediterranean region sold 4.85Mt of cement on the domestic market and facilities in the Aegean region sold 4.90Mt. Facilities in southeastern Anatolia sold 4.17Mt of cement on the domestic market, while eastern Anatolia’s total cement sales were 1.9Mt, Turkey’s total cement production last year was 49.4Mt and 6Mt of this was exported. This year cement production is expected to exceed 50Mt.
