Portugal Semapa to benefit from UBS increased stake

UBS’s increasing of its stake in Semapa will be positive for Semapa’s share performance, investment bank BPI said on April 3, 2008.  
 
The operation proves that  UBS believes in Semapa’s strategy and also sees a potential for growth in the construction company’s shares, BPI noted.  
 
In a news release on April 2, Semapa said that  UBS bought an additional 5.7 million shares and now owns 5.82 pct of Semapa’s share capital and 6.1 per cent of the voting rights.  
 
Semapa is 51 per cent controlled by the Queiroz Pereira family. The company owns the second biggest cement producer in Portugal – Secil, and the pulp and paper company Portucel.
