01 April 2008

Port specialists from the South Korean Golden Bell Company Limited, will begin the site survey of the Limbe cement factory in Cameroon on 15 April 2008. The Chairman of the Golden Bell Company Ltd, Joseph Shin said, Friday, 28 March 2008 after the company’s delegation had an audience with Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Ephraim Inoni.

Golden Bell Company delegation, expected to finance works at the Limbe Port and the construction of Cameroon’s second cement factory in Limbe, came two months after South Korean investors of the AFKO cement manufacturing factory, signed a protocol agreement with the Cameroon government on 18 January 2008 establishing the Limbe AFKO cement project. As for the work time frame, the Golden Bell Chairman told journalists at the Prime Minister’s Office that, "after two months of site survey, we will make feasibility study conclusions". After meeting with the Prime Minister, the South Korean delegation said they were moving to Cameroon’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technological Development to sign a convention agreement concerning the Limbe cement factory project. This would pave the way for government and the investors to decide when the foundation stone for the construction phase of the project would start. According to Joseph Shin, "the construction phase of the Limbe cement factory will last for 16 months".
