Lafarge Portland Cement Friday announced it has changed its name to Lafarge Cement Malawi migrating to the company’s global brand.
Announcement the change at a press briefing in Blantyre Managing Director Sjoerd Grueter said the move is a sign of growing commitment and confidence by the Lafarge group in Malawi.
“The decision to change the name was made last year and it is exciting to local management since it means that there would be introduction of other international products and we would carry the Lafarge brand here which is represented in 80 countries,” said Grueter.
He continued to say that locally produced brands of OPC and Kumanga cement would not change names following the development.
“All our products will remain unchanged. The package design will however change to reflect the Lafarge master brand and our customers would ably access a wide range of products offered by other divisions,” said Grueter.
