Richard Hadley, a former executive vice president of the Africa  region for the cement division of the Lafarge Group, has been appointed the  chief executive officer of Dangote Group’s cement division. His appointment took effect from January 1. Hardley, a Briton, studied  mechanical engineering at Imperial College, London after which he began his  career with the Schlumberger Group in 1980.

He held different operational and management responsibilities for the Schlumberger in Latin America, Africa and Europe. He later joined Blue Circle Industries and became its regional vice president, Africa/Indian Ocean. Following the acquisition of Blue Circle by the Lafarge Group, Hardley was appointed the executive vice president of  the Africa region for the cement division.
