Arawak Cement shines at BIDC awards
Arawak Cement Company Limited copped four top awards, the most by any company, at this year’s Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) National Industrial Awards ceremony recently.
Barbados’ lone cement manufacturer and a member of the TCL Group walked away with the prized Pillar of Industry 2006, the National Industrial 2006 — Exceptional Quality and the Environmental Stewardship 2006 awards, while the company’s 2006 Employee of the Year, Derek Green, received the National Industrial Employee of the Year 2006 — Manufacturing Section award.
Green, a control panel operator with the northern facility for 16 years, was happy to win the prestigious award attributing his success to the efforts of his team, which works diligently to ensure a superior standard.
“I feel very happy to win this award. It is not only a reflection of my individual effort but the outstanding collective contribution of the team. It feels good to know that our contribution has been recognised,” Green said.
