Omani Raysut Cement Co to supply 30,000t Clinker to Oman Cement
18 December 2007

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co (RCC) will supply 30,000t of clinker to  Oman Cement Co (OCC) at a price of 21.5 Omani rials ($55.92/38.24 euro) per tonne, according to a recently signed agreement, it was reported on December 17, 2007.

RCC is said to be Oman’s largest cement producer. The company, set up in 1981, manufactures ordinary portland cement, sulfate resisting cement, oilwell cement and pozzolan cement.

OCC (  www.omancement.com   <http://www.omancement.com> ), which started production in 1983, is 51 pct owned by the Omani Government. The company produces clinker and cement at its plant, located at the Rusayl industrial area.

OCC reported a year-on-year sales increase of 4.25 pct to 1,455,686 tonnes of cement for the first nine months of 2007. Net profit for the period went down 5.8 pct to 13.7 mln rials ($35.6 mln/24.4 mln euro) mainly due to lower clinker production leading to bigger clinker imports at a time when clinker is becoming more expensive on the international market.
