Dangote Group Appoints New CEO

Dangote Industries Limited, the holding company for the Dangote Group, the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa and one of the largest in Africa has announced the appointment of Mr. Tony Hadley as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Cement Operations with effect from January 1, 2008.

Until his new appointment, Mr. Hadley was Africa Regional President for Lafarge, a position he has held since 2001. He also held a similar position at Blue Circle Industries prior to its acquisition by Lafarge.

Mr. Hadley’s appointment is the latest step in the Group’s resolve to transform itself in line with its new vision of being a world class organisation. In order to extend its cement operations, Mr. Hadley will have the responsibility of driving the Group’s operations in Africa and worldwide.

Mr. Hadley is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from London’s Imperial College and will bring to bear his wide experience of over 27 years. He previously worked in the oil industry with Schlumberger for 18 years in various roles and in several countries, including Nigeria.

Mr. Hadley is very well-travelled with significant cross-cultural experience in North and South America, Europe and Africa.
