Lafarge’s Greek unit Heracles Cement said that its nine month group net profits rose only five per cent to EUR28.2m, weighed upon by voluntary retirement program costs of EUR13.4m this year.

Nine month sales came in flat at EUR331m due to unfavourable weather conditions in May and June and weaker exports in April and May due to a temporary suspension of operations at its Halkis plant.

EBITDA for the nine month period increased six per cent to EUR68.7m despite a rise in solid fuel and power costs because fixed, administration and selling costs were contained.
