New order for ABB in Pakistan

ABB Switzerland Ltd announced that it has won an order from Fauji Cement Company Ltd (FCCL) for their new 7200ptd production line. FCCL is located in Rawalpindi, in the Punjab province, Pakistan, right next to Islamabad.

ABB has won the contract within an external consortium with Polysius Germany and Haver & Boecker Germany. ABB‚s portion of the order has a value exceeding CHF24m. With this order, ABB was able to re-enter the Pakistan Market as a world leader in the delivery of total electrical solutions for large industries and has won against strong competitors of other European and Chinese suppliers. Contract signing took place in May 2007. Start-up of the new production line is scheduled for the last quarter
of 2009.

ABB delivers to the customer the complete electrical package, which includes a 132 kV grid station, 6.3 kV and 400 V distribution, harmonic filtering and compensation, MV and LV motors and drives, automation, instrumentation and online analyzer as well as process optimization (Expert Optimizer).

Furthermore the scope of supply comprises cables, installation, earthing and lighting and lighting engineering.

To meet the future challenges of the cement industry and the country’s future demand, FCCL has decided to build this new production line. Due to the expansion next to the existing 3000tpd kiln line, Fauji Cement will reach a daily output of 10‚200tpd  of cement.

The consortium was able to offer the best and state-of-the-art technology available and manufactured in Europe. After production has started, Fauji Cement Company Ltd will benefit from a high quality production line, stable production and low production costs as well as most economic operation. All
these factors will allow the company to produce high quality cement at best operation availability.
