Lafarge has rejected proposals for a merger with fellow building materials group Saint-Gobain, French daily Le Figaro reported.
Citing unnamed sources, the paper said Saint-Gobain and Lafarge recently held talks over a possible tie-up, and notably discussed the governance of the new entity.
But the merger scenario was rejected by Lafarge CEO Bruno Lafont, who said the project lacked industrial logic, the paper said. Published under Cement News
