Oborontsement to invest in cement plants in Belgorod region

Oborontsement ZAO plans to construct three cement plants in the Belgorod region with capacity of 3Mt each. Construction of the first two enterprises will begin in 2008, with commissioning in 2010. The cement plant in Alekseyevsky district of the same capacity will come on stream in 2012. Head of the economic development department of the government of the Belgorod region Aleksandr Levchenko said, Oborontsement studies raw materials deposits in the districts to specify the capacity of the plants. General Director and founder of Oborontsement Aleksandr Miroshnichenko confirmed the company’s plans. Analyst believe cost of one plant is $700mln. The authorities found the cement investor in order to get rid off the monopoly of Eurocement Group, Kommersant - Chernozemye said.
