Sri Lankan officials trying to control rising cement prices

The Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Marketing Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs and the Acting Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) R.M.K. Ratnayaka said that the CAA has apprehended five more traders who sold cement in excess prices and hid stocks.

He said that CAA would continue the raids and they would be expanded to the outstations too. The CAA has marked the maximum price for cement as Rs 692. (US$122/tonne equivalent) on the local market.
