Chairman of cement producer Universal, Mete Bulgun, announced that the
company would shortly lay the foundations of a cement plant in the city
Osmaniye. The facility will cost US$170m and will have annual production
capacity of 2Mta of cement. Some 65% of the plant will be owned by
foreign investors, according to Bulgun. The new factory will employ around
800 workers, but no information about the date when it would become
operational was provided.

Cement company Cimsa in talks to buy Bilecik Hazir Beton. Cement producer
Cimsa Cimento Sanayi confirmed media reports suggesting that the company
plans to buy the ready-mix concrete manufacturer Bilecik Hazir Beton. In a
statement issued to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, Cimsa said that it was
currently in talks to buy the company, which had six ready-mix concrete
production facilities in the city of Bilecik and in neighbouring cities.
