Nevada Cement seeking zone change
The Lyon County Planning Commission is slated to hear requests for both a
zone change and special use permit for expansion on more than 260 acres
northwest of Fernley. The applicant is the Nevada Cement Company, which is
seeking to change the zoning from RR-5 (rural residential; 20 acres
minimum) to M-1 (general industrial) on approximately 270 acres located at
500 State Route 40 in Fernley. In addition, Nevada Cement is seeking a
permit to expand its existing cement manufacturing facility onto that
property.
