Brisk business in Finland pushes up prices

Brisk business in Finland pushes up prices
25 September 2007

Cement demand in Finland is exceeding all expectations this year. When compared with 2006, deliveries  are reportedly up by 20 per cent say local producers. Local manufacturer Finnsementi has found it difficult to meet the markets requirements, it is claimed despite the commissioning of a new line at its main works. Accordingly, it has shipped in clinker and cement from Germany, Sweden, Estonia and Egypt, with reports that some clinker has even arrived from afar afield as  Thailand and China. Local prices, already quite buoyant, are expected to track upwards, although a cold winter might act as a brake on local demand.
