A Chinese company has started building the Batis Cement Factory at cost over $240 million, which is one of the largest private sector investments in the province.

Nasser al-Fadhli, the general secretary of the local council in Abyan, and Deputy Governor Mohammed al-Dahbali, paid a visit to the site to inspect progress.

The project’s supervisors gave the two officials a detailed account of the stages of the project, which will cover an area of 800 square km with a production capacity of 1Mta. The factory’s equipment is due in the next few days.
