20 September 2007

Under an agreement signed by the  Eurocement Group with the Ulyanovsk regional government, a dry cement production line, with an annual capacity of 2.4Mt of cement, is to be built in the Ulyanovsk Region.

The construction project is estimated at 15 billion roubles ($596m). The holding company has been cooperating with the region ever since the Ulyanovskcement company was incorporated into it in 2005. Over the past two years Ulyanovskcement output rose by more than 60%. In 2006, Ulyanovskcement made 1,524,000 tonnes of cement, a 32% boost in its productivity. Another 27% output growth is targeted this year. To boost production, the company is developing the existing infrastructure, renovating production lines and adopting new technological processes.

Over 421 million roubles ($17m/E12m), 660% more than in 2006, are to be invested in production modernization and revamping in 2007. Money will be used to lay a new 8.5 km-long gas pipeline. Special attention is being paid to nature protection measures. By 2010, the available dust and gas trapping devices are to be fully renovated. The  Eurocement Group is also appropriating funds on social projects.
