Holcim, the international cement company, has once again been named "Leader of the Industry" in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

The company operates in the domestic market as Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd and operates a cement plant at Cape Foulwind, near Westport, in the South Island. Worldwide, Holcim operates 130 cement plants in 70 countries.

For the third year in succession, the Holcim Group has been acknowledged as the company with the best sustainability performance in the building materials industry. Holcim has been included in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index for five years.

“This recognition, from an independent and highly reputable analysis, shows that Holcim meets the high expectations placed on global corporations,” says Holcim New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Smith.

“The achievement is based on a further strengthening of Holcim’s commitment towards sustainable development, which is being implemented consistently in line with Group strategy.”

“ Holcim is continuing to address the core sustainability issues related to the building materials industry."

“ Holcim’s recycling and energy-saving strategies, its dialogue with stakeholders as well as its efforts in human capital development received top scores,” says Jeremy Smith.
