Lafarge Langkawi prioritises local market, Malaysia
14 September 2007

Lafarge Malayan Cement Bhd’s plant here will sell most of its output in the domestic market due to rising demand, senior manager Chong fatt San said today.

He attributed the demand increase to projects being undertaken under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, and he assured that the plant will have no problem providing a sufficient supply.

He said this after presenting 50 bags of cement to help rebuild poverty-stricken Dahaman Din’s dilapidated house at Kampung Tanjung Ulu Melaka here.

Chong said his plant, with a capacity to produce more than three million metric tonnes a year or 10,000tpd, exports part of its output to Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Mauritius.
