Russia: cement prices up 18% in August

Prices of cement grew by 18.0% last month and of red brick and coniferous timber by 4.1%-4.8%. The average growth of prices on construction materials was 2.7% in August and 11.5% since the beginning of the year.

The department of price setting and expert analysis and the Russian Builders’ Association has analysed information on cement prices and announced that the average weighted growth of prices since the beginning of the year was 106.2%, while the cost of 1t of cement grew by RUR3,000 (US$117) in June to RUR4,400 (US$171) in August.

Experts point out that construction of affordable housing and achievement of the results outlined by the president are impossible when cement prices are growing so fast
