Turkish production grows 7.2% YoY in Jan-May

Turkish cement production increased 7.16% YoY and reached 18.7Mt in Jan-May, according to Turkish cement manufacturers’ association (TCMA). Cement sales rose by 9.83% YoY to 16.5Mt in the same period. Cement exports continued to decline due to rising demand as they fell by 5.3% YoY to 2.3Mt. Clinker production increased 6.74% YoY to 16.2Mt in Jan-May. Most of the cement production took place in the Marmara region with 5.9Mt that is followed by the Mediterranean region where 2.85Mt of cement were produced, TCMA also reports. Cement production stood at 47.4Mt in 2006 and is expected to surpass 50Mt this year. Published under Cement News
