22 June 2007

The board of directors of Oman’s  Raysut Cement Co decided at its meeting on June 21, 2007 to donate OMR1m (US$2.6m) to the Donation Fund, created by Oman’s Sultan, Sultan Qaboos, to help the victims of the Cyclone Gonu.

The hurricane hit Oman earlier in June 2007 and caused damages, which will cost the sultanate’s economy about US$1.5bn (US$3.9bn) according to initial estimates.

To support the humanitarian campaigns in the sultanate, Oman’s bourse regulator Capital Market Authority (CMA) has facilitated the procedures for the extension of donations by the listed companies.
