UAE faces cement oversupply
19 June 2007

There could be a glut of cement capacity in the UAE within three years if all planned plant expansions go ahead, Gulf News reported. The UAE plans to boost annual production to 50Mt by 2009, making it the second largest cement producer in the GCC, according to the director of the Ministry of Public Works. Local demand is expected to reach around 17Mta in three years, creating a surplus of supply, the report said. Published under Cement News
