The Romanian unit of Lafarge  expects its turnover to rise 20 per cent on the year to EUR280m in 2007, in line with the forecast growth of the sector market, CFO Philippe Platon said.

The company launched earlier in 2007 a EUR20m investment programme aimed at boosting production capacity at its plants in Medgidia, southeastern Romania, and Targu Jiu, southwestern Romania.

Lafarge Cement plans to further invest some EUR50m (US$66.57m) in the next two to three years to expand production capacity by 50 per cent at its three plants in the country in Medgidia, Targu Jiu and Hodiz, central Romania.

The Romanian construction market is seen growing at an annual pace of more than 10 per cent in the coming years, Platon said.
