Turkey’s production rises by 31.5%, Jan-Feb 2007

Turkey’s cement production rose by 31.5 per cent on the year to 5.22Mt in the first two months of 2007, according to Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TCMB) data.  
 
Of the total, 2.03Mt of cement were produced in the Marmara region, followed by the Aegean region with 854,000t and the Mediterranean region with 805,000t. Cement companies from Black Sea region produced 578,000t and from southeastern Anatolia 508,000t. Output in central Anatolia stood at 419,000t and in eastern Anatolia at 29,000t.  
 
In February alone, the country’s total cement output was 2.8Mt, up from the 2.1Mt produced in the same month of 2006.  
 
Sales on the domestic market jumped by 46.39 per cent YoY to 4.5Mt in the two months through February 2007. Exports fell by an annual 2.42 per cent to 796,000t.  
 
Turkey’s cement production increased by 10 per cent on the year to 47.4Mt in 2006.
