Saudi cement production shortage & pricing under study

Prince Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region approved recently the formation of a follow up committee to study the shortage and pricing of Cement.


In a press statement issued here today, Hassan Fadhl Aqeel, the Under Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Local Trading said this committee – comprising representatives from the Riyadh Governorate; the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; the Riyadh Municipality, the Riyadh Police and Yamama Saudi Cement Company (YSCC) - has been set up to study changes in cement pricing and production and their impact on citizens in their construction plans.


The Yamama cement plant has started raising the volume of its production to meet the citizens’ needs of cement. In the next two weeks, the company will start gradually putting 5000tpd which is equivalent to 100,000 bags per day for local markets, Aqeel added.
