Yemeni Al-Barh cement plant total sales reach US$51m

Total sales of Yemen’s state-run Al-Barh Cement Plant in the southwestern governorate of Taiz reached 10.131bn Yemeni rials (US$51m), an increase of 2.600bn rials (US$13m), compared to 2005, it was reported on April 15, 2007.  
 
In 2006, the plant’s total output reached 579,518t, exceeding by far the planned output of 500,000t for the year. The plant managed to sell a total 583,832t of cement in 2006, while the target for the year was 495,650t.  
 
In 2006, the plant’s management conducted a total 27 training programmes, attended by 309 workers, representing half of the plant’s total staff.  
 
Al-Barh Cement Plant, which produces ordinary and sulphate-resistant cement, is run by the Yemen Corporation for Cement Industry and Marketing. The corporation also manages a cement plant in each of Bajil and Amran.  
 
In 2006, the corporation sold a total 1,461,731t of cement from its three plants.
