Cement shortage hits project, Bahrain
12 April 2007

A cement shortage has delayed construction at a $4.5bn shopping and residential project being co-developed by the Bahrain unit of Kuwait Finance House, Bahrain’s Gulf Daily News reported yesterday.

The chief executive of the Durrat Al Bahrain project, Jassim al-Jowder, was quoted as saying he expected the delay to last as long as another three weeks.

"It started last month, but in another two or three weeks the crisis will be over and we will return to 100 percent capacity," Jowder is quoted as saying. The shortage is unlikely to affect Durrat Al Bahrain’s expected completion date of 2010, the newspaper said.
