Turkish production reaches record output

Turkey’s cement production rose 10 per cent in 2006, reaching a record amount of 47.5Mt.  
 
According to the data by Turkey Cement Producers Union, cement production has increased 10 per cent in 2006 whereas cement exports dropped 27 per cent, mainly due to increase in domestic demand.  
 
Last year 41.6Mt of the 47.5Mt cement produced in Turkey was consumed domestically.  
 
The total amount of production in 2005 was 42.7Mt, of which 7.7Mt was exported.  
 
Last year a large proportion of cement production took place in factories in Marmara region (13.8Mt). Central Anatolia, Mediterranean and Aegean regions followed Marmara in the list.
